We Canadians LOVE our hockey.

We at Random Acts of Green LOVE hockey …

AND we also LOVE creating ways to make it easy for people to go green.

On March 17th, 2018 at 7:05 PM, we are thrilled to announce that the Petes Go Green Game Night will be greener than ever before.

We have 3 new exciting #green initiatives taking place this year and are excited to announce them!

1. Recycle Your Electronic Waste & Scrap Metal

In partnership with Nurse Scrap Metal’s Crushing for a Cause, you can bring your electronic waste / scrap metal to the Memorial Centre on March 17th 2018 to be properly recycled!

  • Recyclable metal is processed and shipped to a shredding mill to be recycled & repurposed.
  • Electronic waste is shipped to an Ontario Electronic Stewardship approved facility.

Across Canada e-waste has nearly tripled in four years, according to a new study by Statistics Canada. In 2012, Canadian households produced a whopping 14.3 million tonnes of waste, up 27 per cent from 2002.

2. Recycle Your Used Clothing

Textile waste has doubled in Canada since 2000, and yet only about 16% of disposed waste ends up beings reused or recycled! In partnership with Talize, we are helping mitigate this problem by encouraging Petes fans to bring back their used textiles and clothing to donate.

3. Bullfrog Powered

The Peterborough Petes Go #Green-Game Night is Bullfrog Powered with 100% green electricity. This means that Bullfrog Power’s generators put 100% green power onto the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity the event uses, displacing energy from polluting sources. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. For more information on Bullfrog’s green energy, visit www.bullfrogpower.com.
