Does winter and snow mean you have to put your bicycle away for the season?
Forget changing your car tires – what if you changed your bike tires, too?!
The program aims to help you keep riding your bike …. no matter what the weather is like outside!
On Sunday November 24th, the B!KE Community Hub launched the Winter Wheels Program!
A large number of community members have committed to winter cycling this year!
(See their smiling faces below!)
In return, they got to install these cool “studded” winter tires (sponsored by the City of Peterborough) on their bikes to help them ride through the cold winter months in the snow and ice!
Winter Wheels’ Goals are to:
- Create a visible and increased presence of winter bike riders
- Create champions for winter riding
- Create a community conversation about riding in the winter
- Identify barriers to winter riding and practical strategies to address them
- Raise awareness about winter biking
You can follow along with these cyclists by following @WinterBikePtbo on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Hashtags you can use: #bikeptbo #ptbo #winterbike #snowbike #wintercommute
